Classroom Partnering to Build a Culture of Encounter: A hybrid model of inter-school collaboration

November 21, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The call to collaborate.

The Society of Jesus speaks of networking to build a “culture of generosity, openness to work with others and a desire to celebrate successes (GC 36 Decree 2).” Pope Francis calls it building a culture of encounter.

This webinar will present a hybrid (brick-and-mortar and online) collaborate classroom model being explored by Seattle Prep, Verbum Dei High School (Los Angeles), Red Cloud High School (Pine Ridge, South Dakota), and the Jesuit Virtual Learning Academy. Beyond the goal of knowledge acquisition inherent in all courses, the added objectives of this design are to widen the aperture of students’ perspective and to enhance collaboration and communication skills.

Panelists for this webinar will share their experiences of this classroom design.

Panelists:
Mike Kelly (Seattle Prep) – providing the perspective of school administrator
Dr. Carol Kelly and Dr. Steve Haessler (JVLA) – providing the perspective of teacher
David Smith (Seattle Prep) – providing the perspective of on-site class moderator
MeKyla Kelly (Red Cloud High School) – providing the perspective of student
