Webinar – Looking at STEM Education Through an Ignatian Lens

The profile of the graduate at graduation challenges us to form students who are ready to set their world on fire – the world that exists in the 21st century. Many aspects of STEM education enhance our school’s capacity to fulfill that mission. This webinar will share the success of Rockhurst High School’s STEAM initiative informed by neuroeducation research and the skills demanded by today’s world.
Beginning in the fall of 2015, Rockhurst High School has offered new science, computer science, math, and entrepreneurship courses. The school redesigned classroom spaces that impact student engagement and created opportunities outside school walls to further connect students with the community. The ‘A’ in STEAM is defined by Rockhurst as ‘Creativity and Entrepreneurship’. This led to opportunities and actions which reinvigorated teachers of the fine arts, communication arts, and social studies departments. Be ready to participate in this interactive webinar and travel beyond the STEM acronym. How will our schools continue to form our students as men and women with and for others in this ever changing world?
Whether you are a teacher looking for new pedagogical approaches, a department chair deciding on new course offerings, or an administrator inundated with all sorts of STEM jargon, there will be lessons of success and failure that will be shared.
